Quest to find Life
Enceladus, the sixth largest moon of Saturn is one of the most scientifically compelling bodies in our Solar System. With its global ocean, unique chemistry and internal heat, it has become a promising lead in our search for worlds that could harbor life.

Very little was known about Enceladus until the Voyager spacecrafts passed by in the early '80s. In 2005 we learned more about its surface and environment when the Cassini spacecraft made multiple close flybys. It discovered water-rich plumes venting from the south polar region.
